‘World of Goo’ is a development and logical progression from the free downloadable prototype game / experimental art piece / interactive toy ‘Tower of Goo’. The general gameplay concept is somewhat an ode to the bridge-builder (see 2dboy.com), and obviously highly influenced by Ant society. If you are at all inclined to click on a slightly related tangent - check out this free Java Ant Behaviour Simulator.

In ‘Tower of Goo’, the object of the game is to build a living tower of black goo by joining together goo balls that look like slimy versions of those cute little soot sprites that are often seen in Miyazaki films.

‘World of Goo’ is a more fully-fledged game, with different coloured goo balls, multiple levels and much more puzzle-solving and simple strategy involved. It is described as being a cross between Lemmings and Bridge Builder. The release date is to be confirmed, as it is currently still in development by 2D Boy, and is set to be released on the Nintendo Wii, PC, Mac OSX and Linux… possibly on Nintendo DS but not officially announced yet.
